Marvel Rivals

One of the biggest brands created one of gaming’s biggest hits. So why not try it?!

Marvel is such a huge brand that it’s hard to think that it even took this long for a game like this to come out. But, it being as fantastic as it turned out to be is what I truly marvel at! In this article, I wanted to get into what are the best heroes for beginners so that you can join the fray!

This game has a lot of timed events that grant you skins and a ranking system in which the games feel beastly different from the first ranks than it does in the later ones. If you ever feel like it, you could get Marvel Rivals boosting in order to get these skins or a specific rank in order to get the best experience out of the game!

Summary

Marvel Rival’s heroes fall into one of three categories, Vanguards, Duelists, and Strategists, and they all have a specific role to play.

    • Vanguards: These act like the tanks of the game, they’re mostly supposed to be in the front lines and take up most of the damage while the rest of your team hits the enemies as hard as they can.
  • Duelists: These are the DPS role of the game. Their main objective is taking out the enemy team. Pretty straightforward.
  • Strategists: This is the support role. All of these have at least one method of healing and sometimes even buffing the team.

Now that we established these roles, let’s get into what are the most advised heroes for each role!

Strategists

When thinking about what are the best strategists a beginner could pick, there’s three that come to mind.

Cloak & Dagger

This is Marvel Rival’s only dual hero. Pressing the correct ability key will see you switching between Cloak, a more offensive character, and Dagger, the actual healer. If you’re behind your team, you would use cloak to heal any Duelist or Vanguard you see taking damage. However, if anyone manages to break through the back lines of your team and tries to face you, just change to Cloak and try to use your abilities to either disengage from the fight or face it head on. Another reason why this hero is great for beginners is their aiming method. Both Cloak and Dagger use an auto aim feature. Just press fire while vaguely aiming in the direction of the hero you want to harm or heal, and the game does most of the work for you! With Dagger, you can even heal allies around corners thanks to how the projectiles bounce and direct themselves towards the nearest ally. This takes some practice, however. Their ultimate ability is very useful as it creates an area where allies are healed and enemies harmed. Perfect for defending a point!

Rocket Raccoon

Rocket can run on walls fast and even use his boosters to disengage from fights and keep away, which comes in handy because his method of healing is his weapon’s secondary fire. He shoots healing orbs that heal every hero that’s near it at the same time. If you hit a hero directly, they gain a little more health. Rocket is also one of the few that has any revival abilities thus far. With his B.R.B ability. This healing projectile also bounces, which makes it easier to heal allies around corners if you’re still on your way to the point!

Jeff The Land Shark

Jeff might be the most straightforward healer. His primary ability makes his shoot out a steady stream of healing water that goes through allies. Maybe the biggest healing per second in the whole game. His ultimate ability is incredibly useful as you swallow up any players in the vicinity. If they’re allies you heal them and if they’re enemies you actively hurt them. You can spit out enemies and allies separately too, which means you can just go to the nearest cliff and just spit out your enemies while leaving your allies at the point to capture or defend. This ultimate can turn losing matches on their head, so it’s vital that you learn how to use it effectively, which to be fair is not that difficult.

Duelists

There are a lot of good duelists for beginners but, in my opinion, these three take the cake.

Punisher

Perhaps the most straightforward character in the entire game. He plays like a character right out of most shooters, with both a machine-gun for enemies that are far away and a shotgun for close encounters. Thanks to the fact that his shots are all hitscan you can take out flying enemies easier, and you can use his turret form to hold a point very effectively. His ultimate can also take care of pretty much any tank in the game as well. This is a very traditional and effective character for almost every situation.

Iron Man

This game has a lot of verticality in it. Possibly more than most shooters out there, and what better way to learn the ropes than to be one of these flying heroes. Being permanently in a state of flight lets you hit enemies from outside their field of view. A lot of players, specially beginners, don’t even look up or have a hard time hitting these enemies thanks to their mobility. This hero’s primary attack also has an area of effect to it, meaning you can just fire in the general direction of the ensuing chaos below you, and you’ll probably be helping your team a lot. The ultimate is -okay- while it can take out a lot of the enemy team, it can also be countered very easily. It can even be bounced back at you by Captain America’s shield! However, this character is very useful to have in a skirmish.

Scarlet Witch

If you have trouble aiming at some of the more agile enemies, you can’t go wrong with Scarlet Witch. Her primary fire aims automatically, much like Cloak’s and does a pretty good amount of damage to the enemy. Her ultimate is also very useful because it kills most heroes in one go, but you have to be careful with the charging phase of the attack as you’ll be very vulnerable.

Vanguard

Vanguard is a very tough class to pick for a beginner as they’re in the front lines, you’re most likely the first one to fight against the enemy so you need to be prepared for anything they throw at you. There are two heroes that come to mind.

Venom

Venom has a lot of health and an ability that heals him temporarily depending on how much of his health is missing. This makes him great to drop in the middle of the enemy team and buy your team some very needed time to either get to the point or eliminate the enemies around you. In terms of offensive capabilities, he’s okay. Not the best, but he can stand his ground.

Doctor Strange

Your teammates will love you if you pick this character because he has the best shield in the game thus far. Again, his offensive capabilities leave a little to be desired, but you can hold your ground for your teammates to compensate for you. His teleportation ability can also spin a match on its head, depending on how well you use it. But you have to be careful as this ability has a very long cooldown!
